Invisalign
The Clear Alternative to Braces
The Invisalign® System is a series of clear overlay plastic templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simutaltion to gradually move your teeth without metal wires or brackets. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move, little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist has prescribed.

This system is available to adult patients and some teenagers with certain orthodontic problems. Aligners can align teeth to a certain extent but, as yet, they cannot correct significant bite discrepancies. Aligners also are not able to perform certain types of tooth movement and are considerably more expensive than fixed appliances (braces) which remain the most effective and controlled way of moving teeth and correcting bites. While allowing a patient the comfort to remove their aligners, failures can occur if patients do not wear them as prescribed by their orthodontist.
